If you’ve been reading this blog you’ll notice that I’m always looking for slide design inspiration. So last night while listening to some music on Spotify I noticed the cover art design of Coldplay’s single “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall,” and it hit me.

If you’re ever stuck on how to design a slide, take a look at your favorite artists’ album cover art!
After taking a look at hundreds of album covers I really started seeing similarities between cover art design and slide design. The album cover, at one time (maybe not so much recently), was used to entice potential buyers. It was meant to give a visual representation of what the listener could expect to hear after buying the album. Like slides, the album cover art is used to supplement the content of the actual album.
So what’s the bottom line? Use album cover art as a guide for the use of color schemes, font choice and text placement.
